Seeing is forgetting the names and conventions of things. It’s a chance to meditate on the staggering possibilities and paradoxes of the environment around us. Through close examination a unique story can emerge and with it a reason to love the simple and mundane. Sometimes it’s easier to see through hearing.
I make illustrations and paintings with a nod towards a musical background and a love for artistic traditions and history. Tone, texture, silence and shape are shared items in my image making and musical composition practice. It is my intention for the viewer to explore shapes and landscapes inside of things. Through visual exploration, playful rhythms and expressive stories can be found, flowing from one shape to the next, much the same as music. My art practice is an expression that attempts to remind us of the unique interpretation that each viewer has and that it is far greater than the objective realism of the work.
